Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) leads Australia’s preparation and participation at the Commonwealth Games. Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Physical Therapies Lead with the provision of high-quality physical therapies to all Team members.
  • Assist with the efficient ongoing operation of the Team’s Performance Support Services Centres within the Games Team Environment
  • Treatment of a range of injuries and sports traumas.
  • Complete reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Notification to the Physical Therapies Lead of any injury that may prevent an athlete from competing at their optimum level or an official from fulfilling their obligations.
  • Support infection control mitigation protocols implemented by CGA’s Performance Healthcare Advisory group.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Athletes, Officials, Team Managers, coaches, high performance partners, other service providers, Sport medical staff, HQ staff, etc.
  • Support and promote integrity in sport as it relates to anti-doping, safeguarding, irregular betting and match fixing and classification manipulation (para-sport).
  • During preparation and in Games time adapt a mindset of proactive, collaborative and solution focused problem solving.
  • Pre-emptive communication to CGA on any potential risks during planning or in Games time.
  • Contribute to the overall Team culture, commitment to ensuring all Team Members have a positive experience and be an active role model for G2026 Team Behaviours.
  • Any other duties as required by the Chef de Mission, Team Executive, Performance Support Services Lead or CGA CEO during the Games

Desired Skills and Experience

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

The specific qualifications of this position include:

  • An AHPRA registered, APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist.
  • Being CPR certified.
  • Having professional indemnity insurance.
  • Working in High-Performance Sport Sector, preferably with experience in treating athletes within a Program Sport.
  • Worked in similar role at either a Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Olympics or Paralympics (desirable but not essential).
  • Able to travel to the UK and obtain a necessary Visa.
  • Working with Children Check (or equivalent).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a variety of different teams and people to achieve a successful outcome.
  • If applicable, capacity to reassign any professional commitments for the duration of the Games time and any associated pre-Games duties during the Planning Phase.
  • Be in good health.
