Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) leads Australia’s preparation and participation at the Commonwealth Games. As we look ahead to Glasgow 2026, our focus is on building a strong, united team that continues Australia’s proud history of success at the Games. In Birmingham 2022, Australia topped the medal tally with 67 gold, 57 silver and 56 bronze medals and we’re working to raise the bar again. Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the day-to-day content plan, generating timely, topical, enthusiastic and engaging outputs that reflect the news of the day.
  • Content created to include, but not limited to:
    • Sport previews
    • Sport reviews
    • Social media graphics and posts
    • Team app updates
    • Medal alert graphics and posts
  • Contribute to the production of daily news bulletins and alerts for the database of Australian fans.
  • Enhance the brand of CGA with effective positive servicing and content to drive increased engagement and accessibility.
  • Assist in the management of media engagement activities, at the direction of the Media and Marketing Functional Area Lead.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with HQ staff, Sport Team Managers, media and stakeholders as required.
  • Attend Team meetings and Media and Marketing team meetings as required.
  • Support and promote integrity in sport as it relates to anti-doping, safeguarding, irregular betting and match fixing and classification manipulation (para-sport).
  • During preparation and in Games time adapt a mindset of proactive, collaborative and solution focused problem solving.
  • Pre-emptive communication to CGA on any potential risks during planning or in Games time.
  • Contribute to the overall Team culture, commitment to ensuring all Team Members have a positive experience and be an active role model for G2026 Team Behaviours.
  • Any other duties as required by the Chef de Mission, Team Executive, Media and Marketing Functional Area Lead or CGA CEO during the Games

Desired Skills and Experience

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

The specific qualifications of this position include:

  • Working in the High-Performance Sports Sector or equivalent.
  • Worked in a similar role at either a Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Olympics or Paralympics.
  • Able to travel to the UK and obtain a necessary Visa.
  • Working with Children Check (or equivalent).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a variety of different teams and people to achieve a successful outcome.
  • If applicable, capacity to reassign any other professional commitments for the duration of the Games Time and any associated pre-Games duties during the Planning Phase.
  • Be in good health.
